This is a degree college affiliated to the UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION under section 2f and 12B and to the University
of North Bengal and to the Government of West Bengal. The following courses are taught here:
B.A. & B.Com.
In B.A. (under
graduate) course, Honours courses are offered for Bengali, History, English, Geography and
Political Science and in general courses Economics; Toruism Studies,
Commerce & Philosophy are taught in general course. In Post Graduate level, subjects are offered under Indira
Gandhi Open University - Education, Economics, English, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Tourism Studies
and Sociology. In post graduate diploma level, courses are offered - Rural Development, Human Right, Tourism, Computer Science.
This college has SIX units of NSS.
The College has one unit of NCC under the 61 Bengal Bn NCC, Jalpaiguri. Total one hundred boys and girls students
have been enrolled in NCC for the academic session 2006-07.
All the students of this
college are covered by the Student Health Home Unit of the Government of West Bengal.
Readers' Cub
A Readers'
Club has been introduced in Maynaguri College. Total 100 students have joined in the second group of the club. Every
member purchased one book. Now, they will exchange the book with other. In one year, the college will judge the best member
who read maximum book and he/she will be rewarded. This will enhance the reading habit.
Prof. Sushmita Pandit is the Officer-in-Charge
of this Club.
Science Club
Maynaguri College Science Club has taken the project to investigate the sanitary system of the Moumamari Village. The survey
report will be submitted to the Ministry of Panchayat, Government of West Bengal.
Dr. Madhusudan Karmakar is the Officer-in-Charge of this wing.
NSS Camp for the year
2008 was held in March 2008.

The College has introduced 100-point credit system from this
academic session 2005-06. There will be only Class Test Examinations for all the srudents. From Class Test, 65 credit marks
will come.
The College has four wings, viz. NSS, NCC, Readers'
Club and Science Club. Every student has to be the member of atlest one club; from this membership of these clubs, 20
credit points will come.
From the publication of article in the College Journal, 5 credit
point will come.
From Games & Sports, Cultural activities, 5 credit point
will come.
From general discipline and attitude, 5 credit point will come.
In order to be qualified for the Part - I, Part - II &
Part - III B.A. final examinations, every student has to get atleast 40 credit points.

SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSE
1st Spanish Language Certificate Course commenced from 2nd September
2005. Yadira Gomez Hernandez of Mexico is teaching this course. NEXT Course will commence on and from 16TH AUGUST
2008. Admission is going on.
Distance Education
The Directorate of Distance Education of the University of North Bengal has
opened the Extension Centre in the Maynaguri College. All the students desiring to do their M.A./M.Sc. under Distance
Education mode may contact the College Office.
IGNOU
Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU) has opened its Special Study
Centre in Maynaguri College. Since 2008, Maynaguri College has become the Partner Institution of IGNOU. So, a number of courses
are available for study here.
Tourist Service
Maynaguri College has started the Tourist
Service Division for the students of any part of the world. Student Group may be accomodated in the college at a very cheaper
rate and efficient tourist guide will provided for the tour programme in Jaldapara, Gorumara, Lataguri, Buxa,
Rajabhatkhawa and other parts of Dooars and Bhutan. English and Spanish knowing Tourist Guides are available.

NAAC VISIT
THE PEER TEAM OF NAAC VISITED THE COLLEGE ON 19TH MARCH 2007 AND DECLARED THE RESULT OF THE ASSESSMENT
ON 17TH APRIL 2007. THE COLLEGE HAS BEEN AWARDED GRADE "B". MAYNAGURI COLLEGE IS THE YOUNGEST COLLEGE IN WEST BENGAL
WHO HAS BEEN ACCREDITED BY THE NAAC..
Two new lecturers joined in the department of History and in Economics. They
are Smt. Susmita Pandit and Sri Karan Tamang.
Celebration of "Activity Week".
The College will celebrate "Activity Week" on and from 13th December 2007
to 20th December 2007. All the five wings of the College have published their programmes.
Jalpaiguri district Inter-College Debate Competition will be held in this
week.
