Part A: The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year your towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.

PLAN OF ACTION

This academic session we also intend to introduce new degree courses. Requests have been sent to the University for Communicative English, Sanskrit (General). Also, this college wants to start BBA course for the students. Another plan of action for the year is to enhance the teaching methodology in the classroom. It is being planned that classes will be taken more and more with the help of LCD and Overhead projectors as it has been noticed that students tend to grasp more when taught through this medium. It is being planned that almost all honours classes will be taken through this method. It is being planned that is session NSS will publish a social awareness magazine. It is being planned that Readers’ Club will also come out with its magazine. These magazines will act as a medium for enhancing students’ writing and thinking capacity. It is being planned that a Debate Club will be created. It is being planned that more books and journals to be purchased for the library. It is being planned that the construction of first floor classrooms to be completed as soon as possible. It is being planned that social awareness programme will be conducted involving all the students of the college. It is being planned that two new NSS Units will be made operational. It is being planned that Red Ribbon Club will be initiated to spread awareness regarding AIDS. The college also plans to construct a separate library building in the college campus. It is being planned that more classrooms shall be constructed.

 

OUTCOME ACHIEVED

Drinking water facility has been elaborated. Student toilets have been constructed. The university has approved new degree course (Sanskrit, General).About 90% classes are taken with the help of LCD and Overhead projectors. Two more units of NSS have been sanctioned. This session the college has completed separate library building. Red Ribbon Club has been formed which is involved in social awareness programme. Construction of new classrooms is under process.

1.     Activities reflecting the goals objectives of the institution:

      The goal and objectives of the college is to bring into its fold the bulk of the students of this community who are first generation learners through interaction, training and spreading of knowledge by college teaching processes. Keeping this in mind activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution are- academic, training, access to the disadvantaged, community and national development, ecology and environment, ICT introduction.

2.     New academic programmes initiated ( UG and PG): Sanskrit(General)

3.     Innovations in curricular design and transaction: Teaching curriculum has been unitised and about 90% classes are taken with the help of LCD and Overhead projectors.

4.     Inter-disciplinary programmes started: In this academic year no such prorammes has been started.

21. Improvements in the library services: 100% computerized cataloguing has been done.

23. Courses in which student assessment of teachers is introduced and the action taken on student feedback: Annual evaluation of teaching and non teaching staff is done by final year students. On the basis of the feedback generated necessary actions are taken by the Committee dealing with the feedback.

25. Computerization of administration and the process of admissions and examination results, issue of certificates: Administration is totally computerized. The process of admission is also computerized. Software has been installed for smooth admission process. Examination results are also computerized.

26.  Increase in the infrastructural facilities: More classrooms have been constructed in order to accommodate growing number of students.

27. Technology up gradation: Administration, library is fully computerized with high speed internet facility. Teachers use overhead projectors and LCD projectors while teaching.

30. Activities and support from the Alumni Association: Alumni Association helps by donating books from time to time.

31. Activities and support from the Parent- Teacher Association: Feedbacks are taken from the parents regarding the betterment of the college during parent-teacher meeting.

32. Health services: Regular health checkups for the students are undertaken.

33. Performance in sport activities: Students participated in annual sports, inter-college athletic meet, inter-college football tournament etc.

35. Student achievements and awards: Best camper award for NCC cadets, Best volunteers in NSS units are awarded

36. Activities of the Guidance and Counseling unit: Career Counseling cum placement cell makes students aware of various job opportunities available.

39. Healthy practices of the institution: Learn and Earn programme for the students have been undertaken whereby students learn bamboo works and eventually earn from them.

Part C: Detail the plans of the institution for the next year.

It is being planned that from next session 100% classes will be taken with the help of LCD and Overhead Projector. It is being planned that the construction of library building will be initiated. Awards for meritorious students are being planned. Linkages with international institute for research work are planned. More self help groups to be initiated. NSS plans to adopt a village. New degree courses to be introduced. New software for admission process to be installed.

 One NCC unit has been opened in the College with a strength of sixty students consisting of 45 boys and 15 girls under 61 Bengal Bn NCC, Jalpaiguri.

 The college has four units of NSS having the capacity of one hundred student in each company. The next Annual Special Camp will be held in the month of March 2007.

The Readers' Club of this College cultivate reading habit among the students. They publish Magazine also.

The Science Club of Maynaguri College has a medicinal plant garden.  It spreads awareness among the villagers.

      Inter-College Athletic Meet –2008

               Inter-College Athletic Meet 2008 was held in Maynaguri College in the Month of November 2008 under the auspices of the University of North Bengal. Almost all Colleges of North Bengal participated. The Maynaguri College also organized the Inter-College Football tournament and Inter-College Cricket Tournament. The College became champion in the Inter-College Football tournament.

The College organized SEVEN inter-college competitions so far since 2003.

The College participated in the State Level Youth Parliament Competition and became regional champion twice; and got some individual prizes in the State Level competition.

                The College GOT FIRST POSITION in the State Level Drame Competition 2007.

The College became Runners-Up in the Inter-College Football Competition 2007
